Narathiwat: Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit has reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption and improving the conditions in Narathiwat, stating emphatically, "We are serious and will fight without giving up." He emphasized the People's Party's dedication to addressing issues ranging from police corruption and abuse in military camps to challenging monopolies in the electricity sector.
According to Thai News Agency, Thanathorn, serving as a campaign assistant for the People's Party, alongside Mr. Ramadon Panjor, a candidate on the People's Party's party-list, visited Narathiwat Province to campaign for the party's parliamentary candidates. In his speech, Thanathorn expressed gratitude to the local population for their steadfast support and highlighted the People's Party's unwavering stance against injustice over the past eight years. He cited instances of fighting against corrupt police practices, the abuse and death of conscripts in military camps, and efforts to dismantle monopolies in the energy sector as evidence of the party's seriousness in addressing these issues.
Thanathorn warned that many factions are attempting to undermine the People's Party due to fears that its rise to power could lead to accountability for past wrongdoings and a reorganization of entrenched interests, which would hinder ongoing corruption. He urged the people of Narathiwat to reject vote buying, describing it as both religiously and legally wrong, and warned against normalizing such practices, which he argued compromise the future of the next generation.
He appealed to the electorate, stating that if they wish to see Narathiwat flourish with tourism and investment, and achieve true peace, they should support the People's Party. He called on them to make decisions that will secure a brighter future for Thailand, free from the influence of corrupt forces.
In response to questions from local reporters about the potential nomination of Anutin as Prime Minister, Thanathorn assured that the People's Party would not put Anutin forward for the position again and cautioned against believing misleading information circulating in the southern border provinces.
