Bangkok: The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) has announced the launch of the 69th "Thatcha Award," aimed at honoring significant contributions in the fields of social sciences, humanities, and arts that contribute to national development. This initiative seeks to inspire further research and development in these disciplines.

According to Thai News Agency, the NRCT, part of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, held a press conference on August 5, 2026, to introduce the TASSHA Awards for the 2026 fiscal year. The event was chaired by Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong, Director of the National Research Council, and attended by NRCT executives, experts, researchers, and other stakeholders at the Central Information Center for Science, Research and Innovation.

Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong emphasized the NRCT's commitment to promoting research in social sciences, humanities, and arts through the establishment of the "Thailand Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts Research Award (Thatcha Award)." This award aims to honor researchers and individuals who have made significant contributions to research that can be applied to create a positive impact on society. Driven by the Thai Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (TASSHA), the award recognizes research in five main fields: Suvarnabhumi Studies, World Studies, Sufficiency Economy, National Museum of Art, and Local Crafts. The Thatcha Award is divided into three categories.
