Bangkok, The Department of Employment visited Yaowarat to help migrant workers affected by the fire in the Trok Pho community. Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, revealed that from the case of the fire in the Trok Pho community, Yaowarat, Samphanthawong Subdistrict, Samphanthawong District, Bangkok on the night of July 6, 2024 at approximately 8:41 p.m., it affected both Thais and migrant workers who came to work in Thailand. After learning about the incident, he did not remain indifferent and assigned Mr. Sonthaya Kalasri, Director of the Central Employment Registration and Jobseeker Protection Division, Mr. Chaiyaporn Phumphruek, Director of the Bangkok Employment Office, Area 8, and officers to go to the area to facilitate and provide assistance to affected migrant workers. From inquiries with migrant workers, it was found that the fire burned down their residences (rented rooms), damaging their properties and documents. At the same time, approximately 150 migra nt workers registered for assistance at the Disaster Relief Center at Wat Sampanthawong in Bangkok, including 100 Lao nationals and 50 Myanmar nationals. Most of them had valid passports and work permits, but some documents were still in the rooms that were burned. This group of affected migrant workers still need work permits in order to continue working in Thailand legally. The Department of Employment will facilitate registration and issue replacement work permits in cases of lost or burnt documents at the Sampanthawong Temple Disaster Relief Center, Sampanthawong Subdistrict, Sampanthawong District, Bangkok, on July 8, 2024, starting at 9:00 a.m. onwards.
