Thai and international tourists are invited to pay their respects and honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, at the “From the First Footsteps to the Eternal Love” exhibition, which details her royal duties during her visits to Nan Province, a beacon of love, art, and wisdom. The event aims to elevate the province’s potential to host major regional events in the future.

Nan Governor Chainarong Wongyai stated that Nan is preparing for the grand annual event, NAN: THE LEGACY OF LOVE, ‘Srinakarin Revives the Sky, Sineha Sathit Nai Phaendin,’ a celebration of tradition, culture, and honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, the inspiration for Thailand’s love. The event will showcase light, sound, and contemporary art, showcasing the ‘legacy of love’ that will radiate across Nan. THE LEGACY OF LOVE is a poem expressing love, faith, and gratitude for Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s benevolence towards Nan, a small town nestled in a valley where she recognized the value of its people, art, and way of life, starting with her first footsteps in 1958.

Nan is also preparing to present a special Khon performance titled “The Beauty of Love,” featuring spectacular fireworks and drones in honor of His Majesty the King, telling the story of His Majesty’s “love for the land” and His Majesty’s “eternal love for King Rama IX.” The exhibition “From the First Footsteps to the Eternal Love” depicts His Majesty’s royal duties during his visit to Nan Province. The “Love Nan” gallery will showcase the beauty of Lanna through the eyes and hearts of photographers and artists. Participants will also be able to share their love by donning “Thai Fabrics That Mother Loves” and Thai fabrics to honor His Majesty’s role as the great patron of Thai fabrics. This year’s grand event, THE LEGACY OF LOVE, will be held, along with a significant celebration of Nan Province’s proud selection as the 8th “UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) Creative City of Thailand” in the category of Crafts and Folk Art.

Throughout the three-day event, December 29-31, on Suriyapong Road in Nan Province, the atmosphere will be illuminated by thousands of lights and eight Naga lantern sculptures stretching over 888 meters. Visitors will be able to “walk under the Naga” for good fortune and a beautiful start to the new year. This event will reinforce the identity of Lanna art and the sustainable growth of the cultural city through creative activities in three zones of Sineha:

Zone 1 ‘Shadows of Yesterday’: Revisit the past through local arts and culture that still breathes.

Zone 2, ‘All the Love of This Time,’ conveys the life force of people through light, color, sound, and contemporary multimedia.

Zone 3 ‘Light of Love of the New City’ illuminates the dreams of the new generation through music and the power of the future.

The event also features a variety of creative activities, including a photo session at the “Hug Tae Pang Kon” AI booth to see who you were in Nan in the past, a “Love Fortune Sticks” drawing, and writing wishes in the Lanna language on the Interactive Wall of Love. There will also be workshops on local handicrafts and a wide selection of creative products to choose from. Finally, the night of love will conclude with the spectacular multimedia drone show “Lovelight in My Heart: Firework and Drone Symphony,” a spectacular performance combining light, sound, and royal compositions to convey “His Majesty’s love for the land” and “His eternal love for King Rama IX,” creating the most dazzling, radiant, and beautiful display in Nan’s history.

These royal duties have not only transformed lives, but also awakened a sense of self-worth and empowered people to embrace love as a force that sustains the nation. Nan Province invites the public to wear “Thai Fabrics That Mother Loves,” participate in activities, and view an exhibition honoring the royal duties during her visit to Nan Province. The event also includes a visit to the “Love Nan” gallery showcasing the beauty of Lanna.
