The Prime Minister follows up on solving the mudslide problem and helping rare marine animals.

Phuket, The Prime Minister visited Phuket to follow up on the resolution of mudslides in the area, and hastened the preparation of a plan to deal with risk areas nationwide. He also listened to management of assistance for rare marine animals in the Andaman Sea. He found that 40% of turtles and marine animals died from garbage caused by people's carelessness. He suggested raising awareness to make people aware and ordered the care of officers' and civil servants' houses to be maintained with dignity. At 11.10 am, Mr. Settha Thavisin, Prime Minister, along with Mr. Chakrabongse Sangmanee, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Kriang Kalptinan, Deputy Minister of Interior, and the group traveled to the Sirithar Marine Animal Rescue Center, Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province, to observe the management of rescue for rare marine animals in the Andaman Sea, Phuket Province. For this visit, the Prime Minister used a van with the license plate number Khong 4477 Phuket. Immediately upon arri val, the Prime Minister listened to a briefing on the overall situation of marine and coastal resources and the Sirithan Rare Marine Animal Rescue Center, and saw hawksbill turtles, green sea turtles, and grass sea turtles that were injured by marine debris, approximately 40%, with veterinarians explaining the treatment. The Prime Minister asked about the problem of debris in the ocean that was affecting marine animals, and what type of debris it was. The veterinarians said that most of it was general marine debris, debris from fishing activities, and various types of plastic, which caused damage from friction, scratches, and abrasions, especially for large and heavy turtles. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also visited the officials' residences, saying that the government is concerned about the officials. The Cabinet has approved a budget for housing for officials, soldiers, and police officers. At the same time, the Minister of Justice said that the Department of Corrections also has employees who liv e here, so he wants to build housing. Today, he came to see it to make it more convenient. Housing is important. From what I have seen, the houses are very old. Today, the way of life has changed. It is important for us to build morale for the officials. Today, the minister and related agencies have come. Housing for officials is important. There are over a hundred families living here. We want them to have complete facilities, including furniture and electrical appliances, at a reasonable rate, so that their living conditions improve. The most important thing is the housing rules. They must be well taken care of so that they can be passed on to the next generation. Therefore, I would like to leave this as a policy. Everything must be done gradually to set an example. I would like to emphasize here that we give importance to the lives of officials so that there will be no shortage of personnel who want to serve the country. They must have honor and dignity. They must be created equally. What is needed is rule s and regulations, otherwise the houses will deteriorate. People who come to live here in the future will suffer. I would like to ask for your kindness and expedite the process. In addition, the Prime Minister also viewed the construction project of the Thai Marine Life Museum in Honor of His Majesty the King. The Prime Minister wanted to create knowledge that 40% of turtle and marine animal illnesses are caused by garbage. This must create awareness for people. This project is considered a good project that should be filled with knowledge. The Prime Minister then held a meeting to consider measures to prevent and solve the problem of mudslides at the Andaman Sea and Coastal Resources Research Center (Phuket), Wichit Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket Province. The Prime Minister said that the long-term plan is being implemented. He has been here since the last time he visited 3 red zones in Phuket. But if there is no prevention plan in the whole country that is red zone, there will be problems wh en the rainy season comes. He asked for this to be an urgent matter. 'Thank you for being here, which is a project under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. It looks impressive. Many things, if we do not come to see for ourselves, whether it is my working group or even the reporters, it is a very detailed work. It is something that we can learn many things from, and it has a long-term impact. For example, sea turtles do not know that 40% of turtles and marine animals that are injured or die are caused by garbage. If we can present, create awareness, and protect well, these things will be difficult to happen. Marine animals will be able to reproduce more easily and live longer,' said the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said that he walked past and saw a museum under construction to be a tourist attraction and to support tourism. Above all, we must instill a sense of awareness. Rare marine animals die because of human carelessness or negligence. Therefore, we mu st instill the idea that littering is an important matter. I would like to expedite the knowledge to the general public. In addition, regarding government housing, there are actually about 80-100 families of government officials living here. In many dimensions, we may have overlooked entering the civil service system. Later, we went to the private sector because there were better compensations. Government officials who are unsung heroes like this organization must stay here. They cannot go anywhere else. When they are here, traveling is difficult. Therefore, building housing for employees is important. Housing here has been here for 40-50 years. It is the same as many areas where I have been to, whether it is the police, military, or nurses. This government has given importance to the welfare of government officials. It has been implemented in the same way as other ministries. As for the prevention of mudslides, we have listened to suggestions and various problems. It is quite a big problem. We need to coor dinate with all important agencies, even if some of you are not here, such as the Ministry of Transport or the Department of Highways. Building bridges may be an obstacle to water flow. Therefore, we would like to order the governors to coordinate well with the relevant agencies. The Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department has already proposed a plan. We need to understand the local people well. Explain to them what the issues are, including the red areas that are at high risk, which we see on the map. There are 3 areas in Phuket. Are there any urgent measures that need to be focused on? Because now it is the beginning of the rainy season. It is a dangerous period that we must continue to take care of. And have the Department of Mineral Resources set up warning equipment that must be rehearsed in order to reach every household, whether it is flash floods, natural disasters, or mudslides. At the same time, let's jointly design surveillance and warning systems in Phuket and other red zone areas, us ing technology data to help, because the people's livelihoods and important matters do not want this incident to happen again.
