Bangkok: “Thirat” from the Ministry of Interior has partnered with “Chadchart,” the Governor of Bangkok, to initiate the Sukhumvit Model Big Cleaning project. The collaboration aims to transform Bangkok into a livable and happy metropolis for everyone.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Teerarat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, joined forces with Mr. Narong Ruangsri, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, and various executives, civil servants, and employees from Southern Bangkok districts such as Klongtoey, Watthana, and Pathumwan. Together, they organized the ‘Kick off Sukhumvit Model Big Cleaning’ event, which focused on cleaning sidewalks from Soi Sukhumvit 1 to Sukhumvit 39, Soi Sukhumvit 24 to Sukhumvit 2, and from Phloen Chit Intersection to Ratchaprasong Intersection on both sides.
Ms. Thirat emphasized that under the leadership of Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Interior is committed to making Bangkok a safe and clean metropolis. The goal is to create a city that impresses visitors with its cleanliness and beautiful landscapes, making it a desirable place to live and visit. The Sukhumvit model has been developed to achieve these objectives.
She highlighted the importance of cooperation from all Bangkok residents, including executives led by Governor Chadchart, political figures, members of the Bangkok Council, civil servants, and cleaning staff. Ms. Thirat called for unity among business operators, the general public, public transport drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, and others to maintain cleanliness continuously. She stressed that this should become a routine practice rather than just a duty, to ensure success and serve as a model for other areas.
During the kick-off event for the Sukhumvit Model Big Cleaning, Ms. Thirat, Mr. Chadchart, and the Southern Bangkok team cleaned over 8 kilometers of sidewalks. They also engaged with the public to encourage all sectors to take part in maintaining the cleanliness of sidewalks and the fronts of their homes, promoting an attractive, walkable, and sustainable environment.
