Bangkok: People poured in to sign their condolences and pay their respects before the portrait of Her Majesty the Queen Mother throughout the day to express their deepest gratitude for her immeasurable grace. From morning until evening, a steady stream of people continued to come to sign their condolences and pay their respects before the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, at the Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion and on the lawn beside the Sala Luk Khun in the Grand Palace.
According to Thai News Agency, those who sign their condolences today will receive a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, and a picture of the royal remains enshrined in Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall. However, during our news team’s survey of the surrounding area, we noticed a large number of residents and tourists visiting Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram (Wat Phra Kaew), unaware of its temporary closure. We would like to inform you that Wat Phra Kaew will be closed from October 24th to November 8th, 2025, and will reopen for normal visits on November 9th.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, along with Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, Taiwut Khankaew, reported that the average number of people traveling to pay their respects before the portrait of His Majesty the King is approximately 3,000 to 3,500 per day. Preparations are underway for the royal funeral rites at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace, which will begin on November 9th. The venue can accommodate 15,000 people per day.
