Bangkok: Three prison officers from Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison shot each other to death over a personal matter.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Corrections clarified that the shooting deaths of three prison officers at Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison were due to personal reasons.
The Department of Corrections has issued a statement regarding the shooting deaths of three prisoners, all of whom were prison officers at Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison. The statement stated that the Department of Corrections received a report from Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison that on October 4, 2015, at approximately 7:30 PM, prison officers heard a gunshot sound from a prison officer’s residence. They then notified the prison warden, who then dispatched a number of prison officers to the residence where the incident occurred. They also notified the police, rescue units, and 1669. Upon arrival, they found the body of one deceased person, Mr. Wichit Songwannamsakul, and two injured persons, Ms. Trakun Songwannamsakul and Mr. Natthaphon Songwannamsakul. Both were taken to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, where they later died.
Preliminary information indicates that prior to the incident, the three prison officers were dining together at the residence where the incident occurred. The incident was a personal matter, and the true cause is currently under investigation by police. The Department of Corrections expresses its condolences to the families of the three deceased and will provide assistance with the cremation arrangements for the prison officers.
