Rocker-runner Toon Bodyslam has been praised for inspiring national reconciliation and unity in the Thai society.
Speaking in his capacity as a senior of Toon, or Arthiwara Kongmalai, at Suan Kularb College, Ministry spokesman Lt-Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich on Sunday (Jan 7) praised the rock star for bringing out the sense of unity and reconciliation among Thai people in the society despite political differences.
He said although conflicts are normal in a society, people can still unite and cooperate to fend off attempts by ill-intent elements to foment unrest.
Lt-Gen Kongcheep also praised Toon of having strategy in his 55-day charity run from Betong district of Yala, the southernmost point of the country, to Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai, the northernmost tip.
He noted that Toon had set out the target and plotted the methods of achieving the target with adjustments about time in between because of the injuries during the marathon run, but the target remains intact.
He indicated that, in the future, the military might ask Toon for help in its effort to boost reconciliation in the country.
