Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the launch of its "One Living Planet: Green Travel, Refreshing Experiences" campaign as part of its 2026 tourism policy. This initiative aims to pivot the focus of travel from sheer quantity to meaningful value, aligning with the global trend where tourists increasingly prioritize environmental sustainability and spiritual experiences.
According to Thai News Agency, TAT is committed to promoting markets and developing eco-tourism products and services to attract environmentally conscious travelers. This aligns with their 2026 policy of focusing on quality over quantity in tourism. The target audience, interested in transformative travel, is encouraged to engage in activities like exploring marine ecosystems and learning about wildlife. The campaign is structured around four main themes: Eco Adventure, Wildlife-friendly, The Sea Calls to Me, and Nature Therapy, aiming to foster "Moments of Gratitude"-a sense of thankfulness and commitment to environmental balance.
Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing at TAT, emphasized that the One Living Planet project serves as a crucial mechanism to stimulate the domestic tourism market. The approach seeks to shift growth from quantity to value, attract quality tourists, and distribute income to communities. The initiative aims for long-term growth in Thai tourism, ensuring balanced development across government, private sectors, and communities, both economically and environmentally.
A key feature of the project is the "Voluntourist" activity, a two-day, one-night trip in collaboration with actor and environmentalist Alex Rendell. Scheduled for April 28-29, 2026, this program immerses tourists in nature, offering hands-on experiences like learning about energy and the environment, exploring mangrove ecosystems, releasing aquatic animals, beach clean-ups, and wildlife viewing. These activities are designed to transform the travel perspective, making each journey meaningful.
Additionally, the project has developed eight eco-tourism routes in partnership with award-winning sustainability tour companies. These routes provide nature-based travel experiences with minimal environmental impact. Tourists can enjoy activities like island hopping, eco-tourism workshops, and special offers, including discounts on tour packages and accommodations, enhancing the value of their travel experiences.
The campaign also collaborates with leading partners to offer exclusive travel, accommodation, and lifestyle benefits. Promotions include discounts from Traveloka, Grab, Vietjet Thailand, KTC credit card offers, Nakhonchai Air, Oasis Spa, and an online campaign from EV Station PluZ. These incentives aim to enrich the travel experience, making it both rewarding and environmentally responsible.
This initiative redefines travel as a journey of discovery and contribution, transforming every step into a meaningful experience that supports environmental care and opens opportunities for impactful change.
