Bangkok: Ascend Phu Ruea Mountain, experience the cold, and witness the phenomenon of flowing fog. The last two days of the New Year's long weekend remain bustling with tourist attractions in many provinces. Tourists climbed to the summit of Phu Ruea Mountain in Loei province to admire the mist drifting across the sky. Meanwhile, in Chiang Mai, tourists flocked to experience the charm of the Fang hot springs in Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park. Doi Inthanon remained crowded, with temperatures dropping to a frigid 5 degrees Celsius.

According to Thai News Agency, the summit of Phu Ruea Mountain in Phu Ruea National Park, Loei Province, continues to experience cold weather, with a minimum temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. This has resulted in a phenomenon of fog flowing across the mountain range and forest in the early morning, creating a beautiful landscape amidst the chilly air. As the first rays of sunlight gradually rise above the horizon, the sky changes color spectacularly. The viewpoint at the summit of Phu Ruea is filled with tourists from many provinces who have traveled to experience the cold weather, watch the sunrise, and witness the fog up close. They are all capturing memorable photos of the golden morning light illuminating the mountain range. The atmosphere is lively and refreshing.

The head of Phu Ruea National Park revealed that during January, the weather noticeably cools down, resulting in a large influx of tourists, especially between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM, which is the most beautiful time to witness the first rays of sunlight and the flowing mist. Tourists are advised to prepare sufficient warm clothing and equipment, as nighttime and early morning temperatures can reach 10-12 degrees Celsius.

In Chiang Mai province, tourists flocked to experience the charm of Fang Hot Springs in Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park, Fang district. The park features several natural hot springs spread across more than 10 rai (approximately 4 acres), with water temperatures ranging from 50-87 degrees Celsius. In some spots, steam erupts over 30 meters high, creating a stunning landscape amidst the mountains and lush forest. Tourists can experience a harmonious blend of the cool mountain air, geothermal energy, and the warmth of mineral water. They can also enjoy boiling eggs in the boiling water, soaking their feet in the warm pools to relieve the cold and fatigue, and relaxing in the 8-degree Celsius temperature.

Thanks to its outstanding natural beauty and systematic management, Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park has received excellent certification from the Department of Tourism under the 2025 Thai Tourism Destination Standard Assessment Project. In Chiang Mai province, there are now three national parks receiving this excellent certification; the other two are the Ang Ka Nature Trail in Doi Inthanon National Park and the Pong Dueat Hot Spring Nature Trail in Huai Nam Dang National Park.

Finally, at Doi Inthanon in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, the weather is extremely cold, with temperatures at the summit reaching 5 degrees Celsius this morning. The area is still crowded with tourists, and parking lots are full. At the Kew Mae Pan viewpoint (kilometer 42), the temperature is 8 degrees Celsius, with dense fog. The sun rose briefly before being completely obscured by the fog. The weather is overcast, but the mist on your face feels refreshing. Driving requires caution due to reduced visibility, with only a few meters visible. Vehicles must use their headlights. Yesterday, Doi Inthanon received 7,188 tourists and 1,865 vehicles.
