Tourists Gather at Wat Ku Phanna for Solar Energy Experience

Sakon nakhon: Tourists flocked to receive solar energy and witness the phenomenon of the sun rising directly through the gateway of Wat Ku Phanna temple.

According to Thai News Agency, tourists participated in the "Sip Coffee and Watch the Sunrise" event, witnessing the phenomenon of the sun rising directly through the gateway of Ku Phanna Castle in Sawang Daen Din District, Sakon Nakhon Province, during the vernal equinox, which this year falls on March 20th. This day, according to astronomy, marks the equal length of day and night, creating a beautiful and wondrous spectacle that reflects ancient wisdom in constructing religious sites to align with the sun's path.

The Prasat Ku Phanna was built as an Arokayasala, or hospital, during the reign of King Jayavarman VII of the Khmer Empire. It was intended to treat both physical and mental illnesses among the people. Therefore, receiving solar energy at this site on the vernal equinox is a traditional belief that it strengthens life force and promotes good health.
