Bangkok: Traffic police on Vibhavadi Road rushed to the aid of a bus driver who had collapsed in the middle of the road. They performed CPR before transporting him to the hospital.
According to Thai News Agency, traffic police officers from the Vibhavadi Rangsit/Expressway Traffic Control Center, Division 2, Traffic Police Bureau, assisted the driver of an air-conditioned bus, route 52 (Pak Kret Pier - Bangkok Bus Terminal (Mo Chit 2)), who had fainted while driving on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road outbound near Laksi. There were approximately 15 people on board, including passengers and the fare collector.
The incident began when a concerned citizen on a motorcycle noticed a bus had collided with a roadside sign and stopped at the side of the road. He immediately notified traffic police officers who were on duty nearby. Upon arrival, the officers found the bus driver unconscious inside the vehicle, which was parked safely on the left side of the road.
Police Lieutenant Chaiwat Ditsum and Sergeant Major Kiatipong Kanthalong, traffic police officers on duty in the area, immediately assisted the patient. They coordinated with emergency medical services, rescue teams, and relevant hospitals for urgent assistance. The police officers provided first aid and performed CPR to help the patient while waiting for the emergency medical team to arrive.
Emergency medical and rescue personnel subsequently arrived at the scene and joined the rescue operation, before transporting the patient to Chulabhorn Hospital for urgent treatment. Police officers facilitated traffic flow throughout the rescue process.
This incident reflects the performance of traffic police officers who, in addition to ensuring safety and facilitating traffic flow, are also ready to assist the public in emergency situations promptly. First aid and CPR performed from the first minute are crucial factors in increasing the chances of survival for patients before transferring them to emergency medical teams for appropriate treatment.
