Trailer Truck Snags Electric Wire, Topples Pole onto Sedan in Khon Kaen

Khon Kaen: A trailer truck carrying a backhoe hit an electric wire in a busy intersection in Khon Kaen, leading to an electric pole falling and crushing a sedan. The driver of the sedan was unharmed.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the incident as the trailer truck, traveling from the Khon Kaen City Police Station towards the Khon Kaen Provincial Hall, snagged a cable with the backhoe’s arm. This caused the electric pole to collapse onto a car. A nearby motorcycle, which was stopped at a traffic light and turning onto Srichan Road, had to quickly accelerate to avoid the falling pole.

Following the incident, a bystander assisted the driver of the black sedan, who was trapped under a high-voltage wire. The sedan sustained damage to its roof and rear, and the windshield was shattered. Fortunately, the driver was uninjured. The trailer truck involved did not suffer any damage, and its driver provided a statement to the police at the scene. Additionally, a white sedan parked nearby also sustained damage.

Khon Kaen Provincial Police are planning to press charges against the trailer driver for negligence causing property damage. In a related civil case, the internet service provider, the Provincial Electricity Authority, and the car owner intend to file a lawsuit to claim damages.
