Geleda: A commuter train derailed in Spain, resulting in the death of the train driver and injuries to dozens of passengers, as the nation continues to mourn a deadly high-speed train derailment that occurred just days earlier.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place late Tuesday local time in Geleda, approximately 40 kilometers west of Barcelona. The derailment was caused when a retaining wall, weakened by several days of heavy rain, collapsed onto the tracks. The commuter train collided with the debris, leading to the tragic derailment. Officials confirmed that 37 people were injured, with five sustaining serious injuries. Although all individuals aboard the train were rescued, the exact number of passengers remains unknown.

In a simultaneous but separate incident, another train derailment occurred northeast of Barcelona. This incident involved a train's axle being dislodged by rocks, again due to the heavy rains brought by Storm Harry. Fortunately, this derailment resulted in no injuries among the 10 individuals on board, which included both passengers and staff.

Furthermore, the high-speed train derailment in Adamuz on Sunday evening has seen its death toll rise to 42. Authorities are actively employing heavy machinery to remove the wreckage and retrieve the bodies of two or three victims who remain trapped. Investigations suggest that a faulty track joint may have been responsible for the initial derailment, which possibly led to a collision between two trains.
