Bangkok:The Ministry of Transport has initiated a comprehensive response to the ongoing flood emergency by establishing a dedicated war room to coordinate all modes of transportation. This initiative, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, aims to provide continuous support to the public, integrating road, rail, water, and air transport operations around the clock.

According to Thai News Agency, the newly created Emergency Flood Response Operations Center (EFROC) will serve as a central command post, enabling the Ministry to deploy resources efficiently and ensure quick assistance. In a recent meeting chaired by Mr. Pipat, attended by key officials including Deputy Ministers and heads of transport agencies, urgent measures were discussed to address the impact of the floods on travel.

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority has deployed buses to assist residents in affected areas, while the Department of Highways and Department of Rural Roads are actively monitoring and clearing routes. The Ministry is also providing free parking and waiving tolls on expressways to facilitate movement.

The State Railway of Thailand has adjusted train services on some lines due to flooding, and the Marine Department has suspended certain boat services while preparing for potential increases in water discharge. Meanwhile, air traffic at major airports remains operational, with measures in place to assist passengers affected by delays.

Mr. Pipat emphasized the importance of a centralized mapping system to inform the public about route conditions, and urged agencies to prevent unnecessary risks by closing unsafe routes and deploying high-clearance vehicles where needed. Additionally, coordination with military forces will be sought if the Ministry's resources prove insufficient.

Efforts are underway to ensure comprehensive public communication, with real-time updates on accessible routes, operational transport services, and available support for those affected by the floods. The Ministry's hotline is available for citizens to report incidents and seek assistance, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining public safety and connectivity.
