Tropical Storm Kalmaegi Approaches Vietnam, Predicted to Impact Thailand with Heavy Rains

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued an update on Tropical Storm Kalmaegi, which is intensifying as it approaches Vietnam. The storm is currently positioned over the central South China Sea, approximately 500 kilometers off Vietnam’s coast. It is moving slightly west-northeast and is expected to make landfall in central Vietnam between November 6-7, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, after making landfall, Kalmaegi is predicted to weaken gradually, transforming into a strong low-pressure area. This system is anticipated to move towards Thailand, affecting the northeastern region, particularly Ubon Ratchathani Province, starting November 7, 2025. The storm will bring increased rainfall and heavy downpours across many parts of the northeastern region.

The impact of Kalmaegi will extend to the northern, central, eastern regions, and Bangkok from November 8-9, 2025. Residents should prepare for heavy rain, potential flash floods, and landslides. The Meteorological Department has advised farmers to take necessary precautions to protect their harvest and drying produce from potential rain damage during this period.

Furthermore, the southern region of Thailand, especially along the Andaman coast, is expected to experience increased rainfall and heavy downpours from November 6-9, 2025. Stronger waves are also anticipated in these areas, adding to the weather challenges posed by Kalmaegi.
