Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump stated there was no necessity to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin, while reiterating his aspiration to acquire Greenland. During a meeting with oil company executives at the White House, President Trump addressed reporters' inquiries, expressing his belief that the U.S. military need not intervene by arresting Putin, asserting his confidence in resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
According to Thai News Agency, President Trump previously ordered the U.S. military to arrest Venezuelan President Nicol¡s Maduro, leading to a raid on his residence in Caracas, with plans to bring him to the U.S. for prosecution. Trump criticized Maduro's administration for its failures, citing corruption and involvement in drug activities as core issues.
President Trump emphasized his positive relationship with President Putin but acknowledged his disappointment in the complexities of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Despite his success in concluding eight other global conflicts, he found the Russo-Ukrainian war more challenging than expected. Nonetheless, he remains optimistic about resolving it and hopes to achieve peace sooner. Trump noted that Putin is not intimidated by European leaders, but rather by the strength of the United States under his leadership.
On the same day, President Trump reiterated his interest in acquiring Greenland. He clarified that discussions regarding the cost of Greenland were not currently underway, suggesting that such talks might occur later. Trump stressed the strategic importance of Greenland, warning that if the U.S. failed to act, Russia or China might seize the opportunity, which he deemed undesirable. He indicated that if a straightforward agreement could not be reached, more stringent measures might be necessary.
