Two Institutes Prepare for 75th Thammasat-Chulalongkorn Football Match

Bangkok: The organizing committee for the 75th Thammasat-Chulalongkorn Traditional Football Match met to prepare for the event, aiming to foster a strong connection between the two institutions through a display of skills and a variety of activities on 15 February 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, the organizing committee from both Thammasat and Chulalongkorn convened at the Thammasat Alumni Association under Royal Patronage to plan the event. This year, the Thammasat Alumni Association will host the match at Supachalasai National Stadium. The event marks the return of the traditional football match, which has been on hold since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somkid Lertpaitoon, Vice President of Thammasat Alumni Association, Mr. Atthaphon Rerkpiboon, President of Chulalongkorn Alumni Association, along with Mr. Watchai Wilailak and Mr. Laworn Sangsanit, chairmen of the executive committees from both universities. Other notable attendees included Mr. Somchai Poolsawat, Manager of the Thammasat Football Team, and key individuals from both universities such as Mr. Yodying Sophon and Mrs. Phanit Poonsiriwong.

The football match has a rich history dating back to 1934. This year’s event promises to bring back the traditional atmosphere, with students from both universities competing to strengthen their relationship. The event will also feature a range of activities, including a student parade and a highlight of letter displays from both institutions.

A press conference for the match is scheduled for January 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Thammasat Association under Royal Patronage, Ngam Du Pli Alley.
