Bangkok: The bomb disposal team discovered two more buoys in the Ban Nong Ya Kaeo area. It was revealed that from 10-14 Oct. 2015, nine buoys were found ready for use. On October 14, 2015, a news report from the bomb disposal unit revealed that today, two more anti-personnel mines were discovered in the Ban Nong Ya Kaew operational area.
According to Thai News Agency, at 11:15 a.m., one POMZ-2 fragmentation anti-personnel mine was detected, ready to operate, at coordinates 48PTA 55255 29022. Then, not long after, at 11:32 a.m., another POMZ-2 fragmentation anti-personnel mine was detected, ready to deploy, at coordinates 48PTA 55264 29010. The bomb disposal team has successfully cleared both mines according to the procedures.
By going to the area to clear mines from 10-14 October 2015 in the area of Ban Nong Ya Kaew, a total of 9 anti-personnel mines were found. There were 6 PMN stationary mines in ready-to-use condition, 1 MN79 stationary mine in ready-to-use condition, and 2 POMZ-2 shrapnel mines in ready-to-use condition (if trip wires are installed).
