Bangkok: Typhoon "Dolphin" will not enter Thailand, but heavy rain is warned from August 6-9, 2026. The Meteorological Department has revealed that Typhoon Dolphin is not expected to move directly into Thailand. It is projected to move towards Taiwan and make landfall on the eastern coast of China between August 8-10, 2026. However, this typhoon will have an indirect impact by strengthening the southwest monsoon, resulting in increased rainfall and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of Thailand between August 6-9.

According to Thai News Agency, areas requiring vigilance include the North, Northeast, and East regions, where rainfall is expected to increase significantly and be heavy to very heavy. The Central region, Bangkok and its surrounding areas, as well as the South, will also experience heavy rainfall in some areas. People living in hillside and low-lying areas should be cautious of flash floods, landslides, and overflowing rivers.

Regarding the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, waves in the upper Andaman Sea will be 2-4 meters high, and may exceed 4 meters in areas with thunderstorms. In the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves will be 2-3 meters high, and may exceed 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Therefore, small boats in these areas are advised to strictly refrain from leaving shore. In addition, those planning to travel to Taiwan or the east coast of China between August 8-10 should closely monitor weather forecasts and flight schedules.
