Khon Kaen:Uncle Joi's Beef Noodle Shop, a beloved eatery known for its traditional beef noodle soup, is expanding its menu to include a new dish—braised beef with basil. This addition has become a hit among customers, with more than 100 orders placed daily.
According to Thai News Agency, the restaurant has been recognized with a Michelin award for three consecutive years, a testament to its commitment to quality. The new braised beef with basil dish features tender beef, slightly fatty and with tendon, stir-fried with basil leaves and served with a choice of fried duck egg styles. This dish has quickly become a customer favorite.
While the braised beef with basil is gaining popularity, the core attraction remains the clear beef noodle soup, a recipe passed down from the shop owner's father. The soup is made with premium cuts of beef, including brisket, flank steak, and shank, which contribute to the soup's rich flavor, thanks to a braising process that lasts over five hours.
Mr. Piyapong Pawanghin, the 39-year-old owner and second-generation heir of the shop, continues to uphold the tradition started in 1988 at the Municipal Market No. 1, before relocating in 2014 to Kasikorn Thung Saeng Road. The shop offers a variety of beef and pork dishes, including beef meatballs, fresh beef, stewed beef, and beef tendon.
Located on Kasikorn Thung Saeng Road, near the Sri Phacharin Camp, Uncle Joi's Beef Noodle Shop is a culinary staple in Khon Kaen, attracting crowds especially during lunchtime. Prices for the new braised beef with basil dish start at 80 baht per plate.
