Washington: The United States is gearing up to host a high-level peace committee meeting next week, as part of an initiative led by President Donald Trump to address the ongoing situation in Gaza.

According to Thai News Agency, the White House is planning the first meeting of the Board of Peace, set for February 19. This initiative aims to discuss the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and will also serve as a fundraising platform. The conference is in its early planning stages and may undergo changes, with the US Institute of Peace in Washington currently slated as the venue. Notably, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet President Trump at the White House on February 18, a day before the conference. Official statements from the White House or the State Department regarding this meeting have not yet been released.

President Trump unveiled the committee in late January, taking on the role of chairman himself. The commission aims to resolve global conflicts, though concerns have emerged regarding the potential impact on the United Nations' role. While some Middle Eastern allies of the United States have agreed to participate, key Western allies have approached the invitation with caution.
