Pattani: The ongoing unrest in southern Thailand is severely impacting public services, with the Taluban Municipal Office in Sai Buri District suffering significant damage. This has hindered the office's ability to serve the public effectively.

According to Thai News Agency, the municipal office was severely affected by heavy rain, which caused several ceiling panels to collapse. This incident has necessitated an urgent safety inspection of the building. Consequently, public services are being temporarily relocated to the old municipal office building to ensure continuity.

The mayor of Taluban stated that the damage to the office building, electrical systems, and network infrastructure would require considerable time and resources to repair. A meeting was convened to determine new staff assignments, with some departments operating from the old office and others utilizing the municipal network to facilitate official transactions, particularly civil registration. Coordination with the district office is underway to offer these services through alternative arrangements.

While the building remains structurally sound, restoration efforts are estimated to cost over 15 million baht, underscoring the extensive damage that the unrest and weather have inflicted on public infrastructure.
