Bangkok: The disaster relief center is actively coordinating efforts to rescue the three crew members of the Mayuree Naree helicopter, acknowledging the complexity due to the ongoing severity of the situation. The Situation Center announced that the bodies of Thai workers arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport today, with efforts in progress to assist the crew members of the Mayuree Naree. To date, 1,501 Thai citizens have been evacuated.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared at a press briefing by the Center for Monitoring and Managing the Conflict in the Middle East (CMA) that the situation remains volatile due to ongoing retaliatory attacks between the main conflicting parties and Gulf Arab states. US President Donald Trump stated via social media that he would extend the delay in attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure by 10 days, until April 6th, while negotiations with Iran are reportedly progressing well. Additionally, Israel has temporarily suspended proceedings against high-ranking Iranian officials to maintain diplomatic contact. The Israeli Minister of Defense disclosed that they have killed the commander of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), blamed for blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
Mr. Panidol urged Thai citizens to consider leaving the most at-risk areas and to monitor news from official channels, as the situation remains fragile and uncertain despite negotiation efforts. The body of Mr. Chaiwat Waewnil, a Thai worker who died in Israel, was scheduled to arrive in Thailand today at approximately 12:45 PM via airline, with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labour present to receive El Al flight LY093 at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv is advising citizens to exercise caution and follow instructions, while the Thai Embassy in Tehran is in contact with Thai citizens in Iran who do not wish to return, providing them with information and assistance. Thai citizens in the Middle East are urged to monitor news and assess the situation regularly. Since the incident, 1,501 people have been evacuated from the region and returned to Thailand and other third countries.
Mr. Panidol updated on the rescue of the three Thai crew members on the cargo ship Mayuree Naree, stating that the Ministry received the report this morning and is closely monitoring the situation. A joint operation between Iran and Oman to reach the ship is underway, with further updates to be provided as more information becomes available.
When questioned about the difficulties faced by Iran and Oman in assisting the three Thai crew members, Mr. Panidol confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in continuous contact with all involved parties. He emphasized that progress or confirmed information would be reported immediately and acknowledged the challenges due to the ongoing severity of the situation, affirming the Ministry's commitment to coordinating with all parties involved in the assistance effort.
