USS Blue Ridge Anchors at Laem Chabang, Reinforcing Thai-U.S. Alliance

Laem chabang: The USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), the flagship of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, anchored at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi Province, marking a significant event in Thai-U.S. relations. This visit, which took place on March 26, 2026, follows the ship's previous visit in June 2024, further underscoring the enduring alliance between the two nations.

According to Thai News Agency, the visit is a testament to the strong friendship between Thailand and the United States. During this period, leaders from the Seventh Fleet and the USS Blue Ridge are set to meet with senior Royal Thai Navy officials and local leaders. The discussions aim to enhance operational readiness, strengthen future military capabilities, and elevate the U.S.-Thailand alliance, thereby promoting international cooperation crucial to global prosperity. The commitment to building strong alliances is further reflected through military exercises such as Cobra Gold and CARAT.

Rear Admiral Kyle Gant, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, highlighted the honor of visiting Thailand to celebrate the longstanding friendship between the two countries, which has lasted for over 190 years. He emphasized the importance of cooperation at all levels, from official discussions to joint military exercises like Cobra Gold, in continuously strengthening mutual capabilities. This cooperative effort aims to maintain a prosperous, free, and open Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador Sean O'Neill, the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, noted the visit's special and significant importance as it reflects the long-standing and close relationship between the U.S. and Thailand. Thailand holds the distinction of being the Asian country with which the U.S. has had the longest relationship, dating back to 1818, when American ships first arrived in the Chao Phraya River, establishing trade relations that continue to this day.

While docked at Laem Chabang, personnel from the USS Blue Ridge and the Seventh Fleet are slated to participate in various activities, including social events and ship tours. The port will serve as a short stopover for the Blue Ridge for refueling and resupply.

The officers of the Seventh Fleet, aboard the USS Blue Ridge, oversee the world's largest forward-deployed fleet, with a primary mission of controlling and planning operations for forces in the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans. Their efforts promote regional stability and maritime security through cooperation with allies and partners.

The U.S. Seventh Fleet continues its missions and partnerships to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Regular patrols by the USS Blue Ridge and its crew help deter aggression, strengthen relationships, and develop future combat capabilities.
