Varawut Silpa-archa Meets Supporters During Merit-Making Ceremony

Bangkok: Varawut Silpa-archa, a former Minister and member of the Bhumjaithai Party, was met with cheers from supporters during a merit-making ceremony where he offered alms to monks.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, who previously served as the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, participated in the ceremony alongside his family. This included his wife, Mrs. Suwanna Silpa-archa, and their sons, Mr. Rittan and Mr. Palomporn Silpa-archa. The family visited Wat Bowonniwet Rajavaravihara in the Phra Nakhon District of Bangkok to pay their respects to Phra Ratchawacharamethi, the Assistant Abbot and Mr. Varawut's ordination mentor. They offered breakfast to the monk and sought blessings for the New Year 2026.

In the early hours, Mr. Varawut and his son served as temple disciples, assisting Phra Ratchawacharamethi during his alms rounds. They helped carry items collected from the alms bowls as a large crowd participated in the ceremony from Wat Bowonniwet to Bang Lamphu. Among the participants were local merchants and residents, many of whom recognized Mr. Varawut. Supporters, identifying him by his party number 37, expressed their wishes for his political comeback as a minister to aid in the development of the nation and his home province, Suphanburi.
