Bangkok: Vee Violet has spoken out about her off-key performance at the 2025 SEA Games opening ceremony, expressing her sadness and concern over the impact on her reputation and professionalism as an artist.
According to Thai News Agency, the issue arose during the live broadcast of the ceremony held on December 9, 2025, in Thailand. During the segment titled “IGNITE THE GAME – Igniting the Power to Compete,” which featured Violette Wautier alongside Tong Twopee and Golf F.HERO performing “1%” on the main stage, audio errors were evident. Specifically, Violette’s voice was noticeably off-key and out of rhythm throughout the performance.
Following the event, Vee defended herself, explaining that the mishap resulted from a coordination error. She revealed that she and her team were initially briefed to lip-sync entirely, but on the day of the performance, her microphone unexpectedly turned on without her knowledge, and her ear monitor was muted, preventing her from adjusting her singing in real-time. Vee expressed her disappointment and concern that her reputation and image as an artist were compromised.
Vee took to her personal Facebook page to clarify the situation, stating that the off-key performance was due to a genuine work error. She explained that the organizers had instructed her and her fellow performers to lip-sync due to technical reasons. During the live show, she was unable to hear her own singing due to the absence of a vocal track in her ear monitor. Despite believing she was lip-syncing, her live microphone was activated, leading to the vocal mishap.
Universal Music (Thailand), Violette’s agency, released a statement addressing the criticism. The agency confirmed that the incident was due to a coordination error by the event organizers, which resulted in the performance not aligning with the initial agreement. The agency and Violette expressed regret over the incident and thanked fans for their support and understanding amidst the widespread comments from supporters.
