Villagers in Thong Lang Stand Against Mountain Blasting for Quarry

Phang nga: Villagers in Thong Lang are opposing the blasting of mountains to build a stone quarry. Phang Nga province is becoming a battleground between large corporations and the livelihoods of local people. The application for a granite quarrying concession, which covers approximately 300 rai (about 40 hectares), is being questioned regarding its transparency.

According to Thai News Agency, the transparency concerns begin with the land surveying process, which villagers consider irregular. Local residents are worried about the potential environmental impact and the loss of their traditional way of life. The proposed quarrying site is seen as a threat to the community's natural resources and cultural heritage.
