Viphas Sritong Wins 2026 SEA Write Award for Short Story Collection

Bangkok:Viphas Sritong's short story collection, "Transformed Body," has been awarded the 2026 SEA Write Award, making him a double winner of this prestigious accolade.

According to Thai News Agency, the Southeast Asian Writers Award (SEA Write) committee announced the results in the short story collection category, recognizing "Body Transformation The Battlefield of Flesh Madness," published by Sommut Publishing House, as the winning work.

The committee noted that Viphas Sritong's collection, "Drafts," explores the fate of humanity in modern society through bodily and subconscious crises. This exploration drives the characters toward alienation and loss of identity, raising questions about the essence of humanity when elements like memory, illness, sound, and emptiness intersect to define human identity.

Viphas Sritong previously won the SEA Write Award in 2012 for his novel "The Dwarf." Over the years, he has been frequently shortlisted for the award, with notable works such as "Lost, Forgotten, Vanished" and "Dog-Headed Man" in 2015, "The Monument" in 2018, "Appendages and Shadows" in 2020, and "Renoo's Room" in 2024. His latest win further cements his reputation in the literary world.
