Bangkok: Tai Penpak and Lek Funden distributed drinking water and mourning ribbons to the people who came to pay their respects to the royal urn of Her Majesty the Queen Mother on the first day. They praised Her Majesty as a role model for doing good.
According to Thai News Agency, Tai Penpak and Lek Funden, known for their willingness to do good with all their hearts, traveled to distribute drinking water, snacks, and mourning ribbons to the people gathered to pay their respects to the royal urn of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. They set up a booth at the Navy Wives’ Association shop, marking the first day the Bureau of the Royal Household has allowed the public to pay their respects to the royal urn.
The couple arrived at 8:30 a.m. with 100 ribbons, handmade by Tai herself, in two styles for men and women. They also provided drinking water, snacks, and milk to the attendees, who came in large numbers, some traveling from other provinces and waiting since early morning. Tai and Lek expressed their delight at the turnout, noting that doing good for the Thai people is inspired by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who serves as their role model.
Lek Funden emphasized the importance of experiencing good deeds firsthand and encouraged all citizens to engage in volunteer work, regardless of their resources. He stated that helping those close to you and your family is a meaningful way to contribute to society. Tai Penpak echoed this sentiment, expressing joy at the number of people participating in good deeds and dedicating merit to His Majesty the King.
They acknowledged the efforts of others, like Boom Panadda, who assisted in setting up food stalls. Lek Funden reiterated that their actions were not for publicity but to set an example for future generations. Tai Penpak referenced the phrase “gilding the Buddha image” as her inspiration for quality and heartfelt contributions.
The couple’s admiration for Her Majesty the Queen Mother was evident as they likened her to the Mother of the Land and praised her influence in showcasing Thailand’s cultural treasures, such as silk. Lek Funden shared a recollection of His Majesty King Rama IX, describing Her Majesty as his smile and a supportive presence. They believe that with good role models, citizens can be good followers and continue to build on their legacy.
