“Wan U-Bamrung” resigns as assistant minister, taking responsibility for “Big Jazz” issue

Bangkok, "Wan U-Bamrung" posted an explanation of his resignation from the assistant to the Minister of Public Health for the comfort of the Pheu Thai Party leader after a photo of him following the counting of votes for the president of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization with "Big Jazz" appeared. Mr. Wan Bamrung, a member of the Pheu Thai Party (PTP), posted on Facebook details of a letter requesting to resign from the position of assistant minister, with the following content: Dear Leader of the Pheu Thai Party. 'From the case where there was a picture of me while I went to follow the results of the vote count for the president of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) at the residence of Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Toopkrachang on June 30, 2024, which appeared in various media while the Pheu Thai Party supported Mr. Chan Phuangphet, the candidate for the president of the Pathum Thani PAO, who is Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit's rival. I would like to clarify that throug hout the campaign for the election of the president of Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, as a member of the Pheu Thai Party, I am well aware of political etiquette. Therefore, I have never participated in the campaign for Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit even for a single day because I have never thought of acting as an enemy of the Pheu Thai Party. And since the first day I applied to be a member of the Pheu Thai Party, I have devoted both my physical and mental strength to work for the party to the best of my ability. I have fought shoulder to shoulder with the party and have always performed my duties as a good party member. I would like to reiterate that the U-Bamrung family and I have a close and long-standing relationship with Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit. Both families are like relatives, like people in the same family. We have always loved and been sincere to each other, whether in times of hardship or happiness. Whether it was during hard times or when we returned to power, the U-Bamrung family and Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit have always given each other love and kindness, which has never changed, no matter what our status is. This is in accordance with the good traditions of Thai society that all Thais should do. My visit to Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit's residence on that day was merely to offer my support as someone with whom I have had a long-standing love and connection. More importantly, my visit after the ballot boxes had been closed did not change the results of the vote in any way. Therefore, I would like to confirm that my actions were not an act of opposition or hostility to the Pheu Thai Party in any way. They were merely an act of goodwill that Thai society should have towards each other. I believe that all Thais who have a sense of Thainess understand this well and can distinguish between politics and good friendship. However, after I was contacted by the party secretary to meet the party leader, and as soon as I was informed of the discomfort of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the leader of the Pheu Thai Party, regarding the case of my picture on that day appearing in various media, therefore, in order to make the party leader and all party members comfortable, I would like to take responsibility for the case by resigning from the position of assistant minister. I will submit an official resignation letter to Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, the Minister of Public Health, in the next step.' Source: Thai News Agency
