“Wannor” Focuses on Four Pillars to Address Southern Unrest

Bangkok: "Wannor" has announced a strategic focus on four key pillars to address the ongoing unrest in the southern regions, following a meeting with the Prime Minister. These pillars aim to ensure justice and security, driven by the deep regret over the loss of civilian and security personnel lives.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along with Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor Matha, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, conducted a press conference discussing strategies to resolve issues in the southern border provinces. The Prime Minister had tasked the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) with implementing these strategies. Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor Matha highlighted the necessity of addressing 3-4 critical areas to achieve peace, focusing on strengthening fundamental pillars such as ensuring regional stability, delivering justice, enhancing the economic conditions of the people, and engaging in dialogue with dissenting groups as advised by the Prime Minister. The discussions were informed by Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor Matha's extensive experience in the region and his collaboration with multiple government administrations.

When questioned about the potential improvement of the situation following these discussions, Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor acknowledged the complexity and duration of the issue, which has persisted across various governments. He emphasized that resolving the unrest will require time and deliberate effort. He further mentioned that genuine intention, coupled with the royal initiatives of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX)-namely, understanding, accessibility, and development-could lead to progress. The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of ensuring security to achieve optimal results, acknowledging the tragic loss of lives and opportunities for the affected families. Following the interview, the Prime Minister personally escorted Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor to his office in the command building, underlining the significance of their discussions.
