Bangkok: Assistant Professor Wanwichit Boonproong, a lecturer at the Faculty of Political Science, Rangsit University, commented on the Bhumjaithai Party's recent rally held at Lumpini Park in the heart of Bangkok. He stated that, considering only the roles of Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas and Ms. Supajee Suthamphan on stage, it is clear that the speeches did not focus on emotional spectacle, but rather on substantial content and reflected a deep understanding of the global economic context.
According to Thai News Agency, Associate Professor Wanwichit stated that both Mr. Ekniti and Ms. Supajee spoke in the same vein, pointing out that Thailand is facing 'structural risks' from the rapidly changing global economic system, particularly the competition between major powers who are increasingly protecting their own interests. Meanwhile, medium and small-sized countries need to adapt, forge new alliances, and reposition themselves to keep pace with these changes. Thailand can no longer afford to fall behind.
These issues present major challenges for future economic management, and this is why the communication from these two individuals is so credible. They are seasoned veterans of the global economic arena, having witnessed both crises and opportunities firsthand, rather than merely delivering theoretical arguments or political slogans. As a result, many listeners feel satisfied and gain a clear understanding of the practical aspects of the situation.
Associate Professor Wanwichit also believes that both Mr. Ekniti and Ms. Supajee are clearly "outstanding choices" in the economic dimension, or at least were able to present their roles well during their speeches. In particular, they emphasized that the country's current fiscal position is fragile due to accumulated debt, and therefore, unrestrained populist policies should not be pursued. This reflects a reality consistent with the thinking of conservative groups and those who prioritize long-term national "stability."
'By avoiding populist policies for short-term gain, and instead offering a comprehensive security package encompassing border security, politics, and the economy, with a team of technocrats helping to guide the direction, reinforces the image that this conservative party is ready to govern the country, not just to campaign, but to actually work,' Assistant Professor Wanwichit said.
