Bangkok: Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, the Deputy Leader of the People's Party, has announced plans to take legal action against an organized group that booed Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit during a debate in Chonburi province. This decision comes in the wake of several incidents involving vandalism of campaign signs belonging to the party and its candidates.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Viroj expressed his preference for repairing the damaged campaign signs, despite the slashed posters of the party and certain parliamentary candidates. He emphasized that if the vandalism is due to the bias of an individual and not part of a coordinated effort, the party would refrain from taking legal action, even if CCTV footage captures the incidents, as filing a complaint could lead to irreversible consequences due to election law violations.
Mr. Viroj highlighted a significant incident in Chanthaburi province, where a joke involving banknotes and campaign brochures placed on a house door was reported to the police. The individual responsible admitted it was a prank, but due to the criminal nature of the offense, the police report cannot be withdrawn. He urged caution in handling such matters, noting the importance of distinguishing between isolated bias and organized actions.
In the case of the organized group involved in booing Mr. Thanathorn in Chonburi, Mr. Viroj confirmed that a complaint had been filed with the Provincial Election Commission. He expressed gratitude to the volunteers who helped repair the vandalized signs and reiterated the party's commitment to addressing organized disruptions legally.
