Bangkok: Wisit Limluecha, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, has emphasized the urgent need for the new government to act decisively in reviving Thailand's economy and restoring investor confidence. Speaking on the Good Morning ASEAN program on MCOT NEWS FM 100.5, he outlined the critical importance of speed and stability in government formation amid geopolitical challenges.
According to Thai News Agency, Wisit highlighted that the private sector expects the government to uphold good governance, transparency, and anti-corruption as essential components of national administration. He pointed out that within the first 100 days, the government should focus on stimulating economic growth and addressing Thailand's GDP growth, which currently lags behind neighboring countries. This involves restructuring debt for SMEs, reducing business costs such as energy and transportation, and maintaining the stability of the Thai baht to support farmers and exporters.
Wisit also proposed measures to enhance competitiveness, urging the government to accelerate digital transformation across the civil service to streamline business operations. He stressed the need for promoting innovation and transforming research into practical applications, while also educating entrepreneurs on global trade measures and new environmental regulations.
In terms of economic stimulus, Wisit suggested implementing co-payment schemes like the "Half-Half Plus" model, with added conditions for digital skills development to ensure long-term sustainability. He also recommended simplifying access to funding for SMEs through business plan training certificates to overcome bureaucratic hurdles. Wisit called for continuous dialogue with the private sector to align government policies with the current business environment.
