Wisut Expresses Hope for Paetongtarn Amid Hun Sen Audio Clip Case

Bangkok: Wisut Chainarun, a Pheu Thai Party list MP and party MP chairman, has expressed his hope that Paetongtarn Shinawatra will overcome the legal challenges posed by the audio clip case involving a conversation with Cambodian Senate President Samdech Hun Sen. He urged those aspiring to become prime minister to exercise patience, as Pheu Thai still has Chaikasem Nitisiri as a potential candidate.

According to Thai News Agency, the Constitutional Court is set to rule on a petition filed by 36 senators concerning the video clip of the conversation between Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is also the Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, and Hun Sen. Wisut explained that the court’s proceedings would only advance if the Prime Minister resigns. Paetongtarn has accepted the legal procedures and is actively participating in the investigation process.

Today, Pheu Thai Party MPs are rallying to support their leader as he faces the Constitutional Court’s scrutiny. They are advising prospective prime ministerial candidates to hold off on their ambitions for the time being.

Wisut emphasized his confidence in the Prime Minister’s intentions to serve the nation without any malicious motives. He suggested that those with aspirations for the prime ministerial role should wait for Mr. Chaikasem Nitisiri to step forward.

Wisut also mentioned that if the court’s decision is unfavorable, a new prime ministerial election process would be necessary. However, he clarified that such a meeting would not take place immediately or on September 1st. He reassured that there is no need to look beyond the party’s existing list of candidates for a prime minister, expressing hope for a positive court decision.
