Woman Arrested for Using Online Chat to Lure and Assault Man with Accomplices

Bangkok: A woman has been arrested for orchestrating an elaborate trap that led to a man being assaulted and robbed under a bridge, with the help of accomplices. The incident, which culminated in the theft of the victim's motorcycle and mobile phone, has led to the arrest of the entire gang involved.

According to Thai News Agency, the Bang Sri Muang Police Station's investigative officers apprehended a group of six teenagers, comprising three males and three females, aged between 16 and 20. The arrest included the seizure of several pieces of evidence, such as a stolen black Honda Lead motorcycle, a Yamaha Mio motorcycle, a Yamaha Fin motorcycle, an air gun, and a 9-inch pocket knife. The suspects were detained at their respective homes.

This operation follows a complaint lodged by Mr. A (pseudonym), a 20-year-old victim, who reported that he was assaulted and robbed by the group in the early hours of January 22, 2026. The attack occurred under a bridge over the Wat Bang Sri Muang Canal, in the Bang Sri Muang Subdistrict, Muang Nonthaburi District.

Mr. A disclosed that he met Ms. Dew, one of the perpetrators, via Facebook. They had been in contact but were not romantically involved. Two days prior to the incident, they engaged in consensual sexual relations. On the day of the robbery, Ms. Dew invited Mr. A under the pretense of a sexual encounter, prompting him to travel over 66 kilometers from Khlong 16, Pathum Thani Province, to meet her at around 2:00 AM. Upon his arrival, Ms. Dew and two female associates led him to a secluded area, where he was ambushed by three men wielding helmets. During his attempted escape, he was threatened with a gun and knife, leading to the theft of his belongings.

The suspects confessed to the robbery after being taken to the police station. Tensions rose as relatives of the victim confronted the suspects, but police intervened to prevent any physical altercations.

Ms. Dew admitted her role in the plot, explaining that she had recently ended a relationship and had been in contact with the victim for a short period before the incident. Following an argument with her senior about a prior encounter with the victim, she was encouraged to lure him to a deserted location, where the attack occurred.

Police have charged the suspects with "jointly robbing property with a weapon, resulting in physical or mental harm to others," and they will face legal proceedings accordingly.
