Woman Faces Costly Motorcycle Repairs After Fuel Contamination in Samut Prakan

Samut prakan: A woman in Samut Prakan was disheartened after paying 80 baht for gasoline for her motorcycle, only to incur 2,000 baht in repair costs. The repair shop identified the issue as engine damage caused by water mixed with the gasoline, leading to the motorcycle's malfunction.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ailada and Ms. Sunisa, who were affected by this incident, lodged a complaint with investigators at the Samut Prakan City Police Station. They detailed that on May 30th, at 7:18 PM, they refueled their motorcycle at a gas station in Phraek Sa Subdistrict, Samut Prakan District. However, by 9:30 PM the same evening, they found that the fuel tank contained water mixed with gasoline, preventing the motorcycle from starting.

The victim recounted that on May 30th, when the motorcycle wouldn't start, it was pushed back to the gas station to ascertain the cause. The manager was unavailable due to the long holiday weekend. On June 2nd, the victim returned to the gas station, where the owner claimed regular checks were conducted on fuel quality and tanks, with no prior incidents of water contamination. When shown a sample of the fuel from that day, the manager agreed to test it and promised further contact. The victim, maintaining trust in the owner, decided to file a police report for documentation.

The victim explained that on the day of the incident, the fuel tank was nearly empty, prompting a trip to refuel. After leaving the gas station, the motorcycle functioned normally during errands. However, during a subsequent ride after a brief stop at home, the motorcycle failed to start. The victim's brother inspected the fuel tank and noticed an unusual color. A syringe test revealed normal fuel at first, but the second test showed water. They immediately returned to the gas station. The victim expressed a desire to prevent similar occurrences for others, emphasizing the unfairness of paying 80 baht for fuel, only to face over 2,000 baht in repair costs. The victim urged the gas station to investigate to prevent future incidents.
