Woman’s Assault Case Stagnates Despite Multiple Police Reports

Bangkok: A woman who was severely beaten by her ex-boyfriend has filed police reports at three police stations, but the case has made no progress, leaving her in fear of further attacks. Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Thanakrit Chittrareerat, Secretary to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, accompanied Ms. B (pseudonym), a 31-year-old victim, to Rom Klao Police Station to follow up on her case. Ms. B was assaulted four times by her ex-boyfriend, nearly losing her life. Additionally, private photos of her were shared on social media. The ex-boyfriend has a history of child abduction and motorcycle theft. Ms. B filed police reports four times at three stations: Min Buri, Sutthisan, and Rom Klao, yet the case remains stagnant.

According to Thai News Agency, the victim reported abuse since late 2025, with the most severe incident occurring on February 11th. She now faces potential eye problems due to a ruptured blood vessel causing vision issues. Her ex-boyfriend also withdrew money from her bank account using a mobile banking app.

Dr. Thanakrit noted that the ex-boyfriend attempted to dissuade Ms. B from filing a police report, emphasizing the harm caused to her. The couple was never legally married. The ex-boyfriend, a former military officer discharged from service, went into private business, including money lending. When problems arose, he would blame and assault Ms. B. She is determined to pursue the case fully and has sought protection from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security due to safety concerns, as the ex-boyfriend has previously harassed her at home.
