Yoon appoints ex-reporter as new spokesperson

President Yoon Suk Yeol has promoted Jeong Hye-jeon, a deputy secretary for public relations at the presidential office, as the new presidential spokesperson, his office said Monday. Jeong worked as a reporter and anchor for various newspapers, including the Chosun Ilbo and Segye Times, before working for private companies, such as McKinsey and Company. Since late last year, she has served as a deputy secretary at the public relations planning office at the presidential office. "We expect the new spokesperson to become an excellent communication partner with the media moving forward," Lee Do-woon, senior presidential secretary for public relations, said during a briefing. Yoon also appointed Kim Soo-kyung, the presidential spokesperson, as the new vice minister at the unification ministry.
