Young rider complains of being chased and shot – police say a senior officer ordered to resolve the issue

Bangkok, A young rider complained that he was chased and shot in the Bang Khen area. He reported it to the police, who said that a senior officer had ordered him to settle things with the other party. He was afraid that he would not receive justice, so he came to ask the Sai Mai Must Survive page for help. Mr. Chananwat, 43 years old, the victim, traveled to seek justice from Mr. Ekkapop Lueangprasert, advisor to the Minister of Interior and founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page, after the other party used a gun to shoot at him before going up the bridge over Kaset Intersection. The victim said that the incident happened on July 20th at around 1:30 AM. That day, she picked up a passenger from Lam Luk Ka to drop him off at Suthisan. She drove as usual, but suddenly felt something was wrong in Soi Phahonyothin 44 because a car tried to accelerate after her car. Then, when she was about to go up the bridge over Kaset Intersection, she heard a sound similar to a gunshot 3 times. She was very shocked, so she turned to see if the passenger was hurt before driving away as quickly as possible. Then he went to file a complaint at Phaholyothin Police Station. The police checked the bullet marks on his car and said it was likely a .22 caliber gun. However, when they checked the CCTV in the car, they found that the incident occurred in the Bang Khen Police Station area. The police therefore advised him to file a complaint at Bang Khen Police Station. When he arrived, the Bang Khen Police Station officers said that the bullet marks were likely .22 caliber as well. They contacted the forensic officers to come and check for gunpowder residue. However, due to the long holiday, the police let him leave the car for now. Later in the evening of July 21, the police called to inform me that the perpetrator had been arrested and asked me to come and talk, claiming that 'some elders wanted us to clear things up.' When I arrived at Bang Khen Police Station, I met the other party and talked to him. He offered me 20,000 baht, but I refused because I thought that if someone was injured or died that day, who would be responsible? After that, the police came to talk to me again and said that if I didn't accept the money, I wouldn't get anything because the gun that was fired was a BB gun or a fake gun that the perpetrator had brought to hand over when he surrendered. This made me feel even more shocked because at first they said it was a .22 caliber gun. Furthermore, the Forensic Science Division had not come to check for gunpowder residue and the police did not search the other party's house. In addition, one police officer said that my other party had committed the crime many times before, but the matter had always been quiet. I was afraid that I would not receive justice, so I came to ask Sai Mai Must Survive for help. Mr. Ekkapop said that initially, he had already coordinated with the Superintendent of Bangkhen Police Station. The Superintendent of Bangkhen Police Station stated that even though the suspect had brought a fake gun to the police, it did not mean that the police believed that the gun was the one used in the incident. They had to wait for the Forensic Science officers to come and thoroughly inspect both the gun and the bullet holes in the victim's car. If it is found that a crime was actually committed, legal action will be taken. Source: Thai News Agency
