Bangkok: “Nong Mini,” a 10-year-old girl, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a gold medal in street skateboarding. Small but mighty! “Mini” Chankaeo Udomphen showcased her skills at the SEA Games skateboarding event held at the Extreme Sports Stadium, Sports Authority of Thailand, Hua Mak. Competing in her first SEA Games, she scored an impressive 160.34 points in the women’s individual street skateboarding final, securing her first SEA Games gold medal.
According to Thai News Agency, 14-year-old “ST” Wariraya Sukasem also made a mark by winning the bronze medal with a score of 111.18 points. A participant in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Wariraya showed her potential on the skateboard. The silver medal in the women’s category was claimed by an athlete from Indonesia.
In the boys’ street skateboarding category, 11-year-old “Firas” Kirin Phetkiree delivered a strong performance with a score of 153.22 points. Despite his efforts, he narrowly missed the gold medal as Basral Kraito Hutomo from Indonesia executed a difficult trick on his final attempt, achieving a score of 166.67 points to win the gold. “Firas” earned the silver medal, while fellow Thai athlete “Chai” Thawatchai Siang-eung took home the bronze with a score of 152.31 points.
The Extreme Sports Association is set to conclude the skateboarding events today with the gold medal competitions in the team cable wakeboard event at ESC THAI WAKE PARK. The final round will commence at 1:00 PM.
