Bangkok: Police arrested a 19-year-old man who stabbed a coworker, causing injuries that required ICU admission. After the incident, he fled back to his dorm in a panic. CCTV footage captured the event.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage shows Mr. Ohm, the suspect, running at the traffic light intersection of Mittraphap Road and Ban Kok Road around 10:13 PM. He appeared agitated and frequently looked back before crossing the road and entering an alley leading to his apartment. Another camera captured him near the apartment entrance, and a third showed him entering the building. At 11:42 PM, police arrived and apprehended Mr. Ohm without resistance. They found the knife he used, which he had thrown off the balcony, and confiscated it along with blood-stained socks as evidence.

The arrest followed an incident where Mr. Ohm allegedly used a 30 cm knife to stab 22-year-old Chatphet, his coworker, on Mittraphap Road in front of their workplace. Chatphet was seriously injured and taken to Khon Kaen Hospital's ICU. The conflict reportedly began with Mr. Ohm reprimanding Chatphet for not assisting him at work. After a subsequent argument at the department store exit, the situation escalated. Mr. Ohm fled to his dormitory before police apprehended him.

The apartment caretaker mentioned that Ohm's relatives consulted him about the incident. He advised them to turn Ohm in to the police, who arrived shortly afterward. Ohm had been living in the apartment for two months with relatives. The caretaker noted that Ohm had not shown violent behavior previously and was mostly focused on work.

Police charged Mr. Ohm with "attempted murder and illegal possession and use of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine)" before remanding him to Khon Kaen Provincial Court. Chatphet's condition has improved, but he remains in the ICU and is not yet ready to provide more information.
