1st Army Area Command Initiates Investigation Into Private’s Death

Bangkok: The 1st Army Area Command has ordered the transfer of the prison warden of the 12th Military District to an inactive post and has formed a committee to investigate. The decision comes in response to the death of Private Petcharat Kamlangying, a member of the 2nd Artillery Regiment, Royal Guard, stationed at Phrom Yothi Camp in Prachinburi Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the 1st Army Region has ordered the immediate transfer of the commander of the Military District 12 prison to assist in other duties and has established a central committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding Private Petcharat's death. On November 10, 2025, Private Petcharat passed away, with an autopsy revealing no signs of physical assault or brain injuries. Doctors concluded that the cause of death was acute heart failure due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart blockage.

The 1st Army Area Command, as the responsible body, has expressed its commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation. The Commander of the 1st Army Area Command has ordered the formation of a central investigative committee to verify the facts and provide fairness to all involved, including the deceased's family. The Commander of Military District 12 has been temporarily reassigned to assist at the Military District 12 Headquarters during the inquiry.

The 1st Army Region has emphasized its policy against supporting or protecting wrongdoing. All investigation processes have been mandated to be transparent and straightforward, aiming to ensure fairness. The outcome of the investigation will be communicated once it is complete, and the 1st Army Area Command has extended condolences to Private Phetcharat's family for their loss.
