Surin: The 2nd Army Region has provided an explanation regarding the forest fire near Prasat Khana in Kab Choeng District, Surin Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire originated on the Cambodian side of the border, and there were intermittent explosions that resembled small arms fire. It is suspected that the fire may have been caused by unexploded ordnance remaining in the area.
The incident, which occurred at 9:00 PM yesterday, affected the forest located east of Prasat Khana on the Cambodian side. The 2nd Army Region has stated that an investigation is currently underway, and the situation is under close monitoring. They have urged all parties to rely on official information released through authorized channels.
The Army Military Force Facebook page has suggested that the fire may have been intentionally set by Cambodian soldiers to create smoke, potentially to obscure the movement of weapons, equipment, and personnel.
