Non suwan: A 5-year-old boy tragically died from electrocution while playing on a swing in the outdoor playground of a school. His aunt disclosed that the school’s director had been informed about the issue several times, but no action was taken to rectify it. In contrast, the director claimed that there were no prior reports of the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the boy, named Model, was a second-grade kindergarten student. His relatives have taken his body to Ban Fai Yai in Non Suwan District, Buriram Province, to perform funeral rites. The family expressed concerns that similar incidents had occurred in the past, yet the school failed to address the issue.
The boy’s grandfather, Mr. Khampan, 60, shared his grief, explaining that he was responsible for the boy’s daily commute to and from school as the child’s parents worked in another province. He emphasized that his grandson was not mischievous and was merely playing with the school-provided toys when the incident occurred.
Ms. Thansanee, the child’s aunt, recounted that upon being informed, she rushed to the school and found her nephew unconscious near the swing. Despite administering CPR and transporting him to Non Suwan Hospital, he had no pulse. She mentioned previous electrocution incidents at the same location, which were reported to the school but ignored. The tragedy struck just two days into the school term, leaving her deeply saddened.
The school director stated that the school initially offered compensation through accident insurance. When questioned about the cause of the accident and reports of damage that were allegedly unaddressed, the director denied receiving any reports before quickly leaving the scene.
