Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the expiration of the 72-hour deadline at 12:00 PM, highlighting that the issuance of a statement on the situation will be based on a joint assessment by the military and the National Security Council (NSC). He stressed that the government will act in accordance with the guidelines specified in the Joint Statement.
According to Thai News Agency, Cambodia has been keen on accelerating Thailand's involvement in the Joint Border Committee (JBC) meeting, proposing that it be held on Cambodian soil. Anutin emphasized Thailand's vigilance over the ongoing situation and insisted that all proceedings must be anchored in sincerity and a true commitment to fostering regional peace. He assured that if the processes are deemed reasonable, Thailand is prepared to engage in dialogue and collaborate on solution-finding.
China's offer of 20 million yuan in aid to Thailand, aimed at recovery from damages to people and property, was another key issue discussed. This proposal surfaced during the trilateral foreign ministers' meeting involving Thailand, Cambodia, and China. However, Anutin noted that the specifics of the aid have yet to be thoroughly deliberated and require additional consideration. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew has only just returned to Thailand, paving the way for further discussions.
