Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, spearheaded a campaign tour in Bangkok's Charoen Krung and Phetchaburi Soi 7, with a focus on Constituencies 1 and 2. He expressed confidence in the party's candidates and urged residents to restore their trust in the Democrat Party.
According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit, accompanied by Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, deputy leader of the party, and Mr. Peerawut Pimsomrudee, the candidate for District 1, campaigned under the "New Bangkok" initiative. The team covered areas including Phra Nakhon, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Samphanthawong, and Bang Rak, starting from Central Bang Rak. Abhisit noted the warm reception from the public, especially those with long-standing ties to the party, and emphasized that many supporters who previously shifted allegiances are now returning.
The Democrat Party highlighted its strict candidate screening process, ensuring representatives are well-qualified, with a focus on education, work experience, and ideology. Abhisit stressed the party's commitment to addressing corruption and economic challenges, aiming to regain public trust.
During the campaign, Abhisit and his team engaged with the public along Charoen Krung Road, receiving enthusiastic greetings and photo requests. Later, they campaigned in Constituency 2 with Dr. Jesada Lertthanasarn, the candidate for the area, receiving floral tributes from the public.
Abhisit reflected positively on the campaign atmosphere, noting strong support from both long-time backers and younger voters. Despite time constraints, he expressed confidence in the team's readiness and plans to address local concerns, particularly for the elderly, traffic, and environmental issues, through comprehensive policies.
The campaign efforts will continue throughout the election period, with the party aiming for a successful outcome.
