Bangkok: Lawyers have filed for bail for Achariya Ruangratanapong, president of the Crime Victims Assistance Association and deputy commander of the Border Patrol Police, who is currently detained on extortion charges. According to Thai News Agency, the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road is currently considering the bail application submitted by Achariya's legal team. The team has used cash collateral to apply for his temporary release. The investigators from the Crime Suppression Division have requested an extension for the detention of Achariya and six others for a 12-day period. The legal team disclosed that the bail application is being processed. If the court decides to grant bail, Achariya intends to publicly address the allegations against him in a press conference. It remains unclear if the other suspects involved will also apply for bail, as the court continues to deliberate on the matter.
